Two decades ago, Mocean was a dream--the dream of a place where dance artists could flourish and stay rooted to their Atlantic home.
Now in our 20th season, we celebrate with abundance as we thank the numerous people—artists, collaborators, audiences, volunteers and donors – who helped to realize this dream. Extraordinary experiences--large and small—have been generated in collaboration with this community.
Energized by these relationships, Mocean has grown into an artistic catalyst of creative exchange that ripples more widely into the community, the Atlantic region, and beyond.
This milestone season illuminates a future vision we are moving toward. This year’s programming embodies our intention of crossing aesthetic boundaries that reach into new realms, centering exploration and collaboration, and supporting and uplifting new and emergent voices.
Looking ahead, we embrace new creative directions while staying rooted in dance, trusting in its intrinsic abilities to connect and empower, to inspire and transform--to make ripples of change that permeate the world around us.
