SOMOS UNO (WE ARE ONE)
Mocean Dance's Emerging Artists-in-Residence Carolin Mateus and Gabrielle Greener close out their summer training program with a dynamic showcase performance on the Halifax Waterfront!
Come see what they've been working on at this FREE event on Sunday August 28th at 6:30 pm at the Queen's Marque on the Halifax Waterfront.
Mateus and Greener's new work SOMOS UNO (WE ARE ONE) explores the value of each dancer’s body and their particular skills, through the principles of Hip Hop culture: self-esteem, equality, personal development, liberation, respect, culture, diversity, tolerance, solidarity and community. This powerful piece is an expression of emotions and sensations combined with fundamental movements, styles, and history of street dance.
Featuring a cast of 16 artists from a variety of dance styles and skill levels, this crew has spent the summer digging deep into Hip Hop culture and values, learning from each other, and sharing their love of dance.
Limited seating available. In case of adverse weather, the showing will move to House of Eights at 1533 Barrington Street, 2nd floor.
