Originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Kate Houston began her training at Halifax Dance where she completed the Intensive Training Program and was a part of the Young Company of Halifax Dance. Kate also trained at Coastal Dance while attending summer programs at Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, The National Ballet School, L’ecole Supérieure de Ballet du Québec and Arts Umbrella. In 2008 she was invited to attend the 2nd annual Beijing International Ballet Invitational for dance schools. Kate continued her post secondary training at L’ecole Supérieure de Ballet du Quebec while dancing for le Jeune Ballet du Québec. During her time there she was chosen to perform and tour internationally pieces by Gioconda Barbuto, Annabelle Lopez Ochoa and Shawn Hounsell. Kate graduated from the school with the L’Agora de la Danse award.

Upon graduation she he was chosen to be part of the Banff Summer Dance Company where she was part of creations by Robert Stephen and Gioconda Barbuto. Kate has since danced for MOVE:the company under the direction of Joshua Beamish in a commission for the Bangkok International Festival for Music and Dance and Cadence Contemporary Ballet under direction of Courtnae Bowman. In 2013 she was part of Springboard Danse Montreal where she had the privilege of dancing in works by Barak Marshall and Kate Wallich. She has since performed with Alysa Pires Dance Projects, Tyler Angell and Lydia Zimmer + Dancers.
