Joël Azevedo

Joël Azevedo (they/them) is an Atlantic dance artist currently residing in ktaqmkuk / Corner Brook, NL. Their practice starts with the liveness of the connection between audience and performer. As a dancer and creator, they enjoy defying the expectations of what dance is and can be with curiosity as a core value. Their practice is firmly rooted in contemporary dance but their research and training also includes forms like karaoke, zumba, social dance, and arts leadership; they are influenced by clowning and devising, and they tend toward collaborative processes.
