Robert Azevedo

Dancer

Robert Azevedo (they/them) is an Atlantic dance artist currently residing in ktaqmkuk / Corner Brook, NL. They are a graduate of Simon Fraser University’s Dance Program (2015) and spent over a decade performing and creating on the West Coast before returning East during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their practice starts with the liveness of the connection between audience and performer. As a dancer and creator, they enjoy defying the expectations of what dance is and can be. Their practice is firmly rooted in contemporary dance but their research and training also includes forms like karaoke, zumba, and social dance. Robert is also influenced by clowning and devising, and they tend toward collaborative processes.
