Woodlight Film

posted June 29th, 2021

Produced by Hear Here Productions

Woodlight (Field & Tree) is an invitation to renew and reflect on our own relationships with the land and offers us a chance to listen and reconnect. Set in Mi'kma'ki/Nova Scotia it is a call to action to care for and protect this land.

Woodlight (Field & Tree) is the first of a three-part series of films that combine choreography, poetry and music in outdoor settings in Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia. This project was conceived, directed and produced by Erin Donovan (Hear Here Productions) and had three main artistic collaborators; Alice Burdick (poet), Susanne Chui (choreography, dance, artistic advisor) and Erin Donovan (artistic director, musician, composer/sound designer).

Collaborators: Erin Donovan, Susanne Chui, Alice Burdick
Hear Here Productions, Mocean Dance, Picnic Studios (video), Stonehouse Sound (audio), and India Gailey (cello).
Run Time: 4:52

Woodlight was supported by the Canada Council for the Art’s Digital Originals program and was selected for the National Arts Centre’s CAPSULE, a community-responsive platform hosted by the National Arts Centre Dance Department in close collaboration with F-O-R-M and Dumb Instrument Dance, featuring 60 short films created by Canadian dance artists. It was also selected for 2021 Dance:made in/fait au Canada Festival’s dance on film and video series available from September 21-24. Check out all the CAPSULE films here, available to experience from May 3 to August 31, 2021.
