“Play is the mediator of the invisible and visible. ”
- Dora M. Kalff, Jungian therapist
Mocean Dance presents PLAY, a new commissioned interactive piece by multifaceted artist Jacinte Armstrong. PLAY invites all of us to be in the moment. Using movement, drawings, music, and colorful large-scale objects, Armstrong together with an interdisciplinary cast puts into play a communal and joyful building of a work. No previous dance experience is needed to become part of the performance. Whether you choose to take an active part in the creative flow or just sit back and enjoy the time and space, this whimsical piece will draw you in. Beginning from the idea that dance is in all of us, PLAY explores how objects around us choreograph the movement in our everyday lives.
All are welcome! Attendees are invited to watch and/or participate as they will, and move at their own pace and ability in community with others. This is a family friendly event, but please note the experience is not specifically geared towards children.
We're also bringing this work to the community in two free workshops at the Halifax Central Library with Jacinte Armstrong:
Oct 26th, 7 - 8 PM
Oct 28th, 12 - 1 PM | 2:30 - 3:30 PM
